Just a Thought on Beating the Cost of Fuel

Fuel costs rise to over $4.00 per gallon, and you're still driving in traffic everyday to that five figure job. Are you really going to let this economy drag you into poverty by working for less than you're worth? Maybe you're just content with hanging out on the weekends with your economy no-name case of whatever that costs more than ever due to crop destruction by the weather, and complain about what you don't have and how its all the government's fault and boy, do they owe you big time.

Let's face it, the economy shifts and changes and really, we've been so blessed to have had things go in a positive direction the way they have for this long. Any true economist, ones that don't have any real political agenda, will recognize the simplicity of what the media and politics are hailing as the greatest disaster we face yet, and explain that we're simply in the down portion of an always evolving economic cycle.

I was a young child, but I'm able to remember my parents lined up at the gas station to get fuel back in the 1970's. I remember the panic of the stock market scare in the 1980's. I remember the panic of inflation and plant closures and many other things that happened that aren't so unfamiliar to what we are experiencing now.

Maybe the government can and should do something, maybe they already have. I mean, we already live in a free country designed for free enterprise. Yes, we could argue about taxes and government spending and all that other stuff. I'm not saying anyone on Capital Hill is perfect by any means, and yes, there are plenty of good arguments out there about how to change things for the better. But what if you just stopped to think for just a moment about what YOU could do.

IF there was a way to earn income and spend less on fuel, thereby creating a better environment because you've created fewer gas emissions, would you do it? IF you could make a greater income, thereby being able to spend more, invest more or whatever, which in turn would stimulate economic growth, would you do that? IF you were able to create so much income that you could live more than comfortably on 10% and give away 90% to help others overcome a particular problem, would you do it? Well, maybe I pushed that last one just a bit too far. I realize that not everyone is that generous, but hey, it works for Bill Gates and a bunch of other wealthy billionaires, so I thought I'd just throw it out there for kicks. Anyway, it's just a thought.
